Season of Stillness

I haven’t felt like posting/sharing anything in these digital spaces lately. I’m just content in the still & quiet season I am in. A season of waiting & just living each day simply & without all the “extra”.

We have been homeless for a year now, living in our camper waiting to break ground on our house. Some days I feel frustrated & just long for a cozy house where everything has a place. But in this season of homelessness, God is doing a work on my heart & mind. He is teaching me the true meaning of “homemaking” and that it isn’t about having a comfortable perfect house or really any house at all. Real homemaking isn’t solely about home management & all it entails (creating a clean and safe living environment, meals prepared, clean laundry, etc). It’s about focusing on & preparing for our ultimate Home, heavenward.

So, stop obsessing so much over creating a perfect home in a world which is not our home, but rather work toward creating an earthly home that reflects and points toward eternity.

No matter how hard we try to create the coziest most perfect house here on earth, it will most assuredly pale in comparison to our heavenly home. These earthly homes we obsess over are temporary & fleeting.

I say all this to say, have you ever thought/prayed about giving up your home? I don’t necessarily mean literally, but figuratively we can have such a selfish death grip on our homes, so much so, that we miss out on all the amazing ways God wants to use our earthly houses.

Lately I’ve been praying & asking God to take hold of our new build & do with it as He desires. Praying for guidance in every step of the process from our land, house plans, contractor, materials etc. For the past year it seems like we haven’t made much progress, but I know God is working all things for His good & His glory because I’ve given it up to Him & pray, not my house be built, but Yours.

May this house be used to raise up little disciples, to host family & friends (& strangers), a place to gather in Your name, to learn about You, & to worship You. An open house for Your plans, open to anyone & everyone! A house to love & serve others & point them heavenward where we belong, with You.

Help me to be a homemaker that puts Home☝️ first & house🏠second.

”Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. “

‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3‬:‭2‬ ‭

”Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.“

‭‭John‬ ‭14‬:‭1‬-‭3‬ ‭

Happy Homemaking!
