For nearly three years, I stood over this little s

For nearly three years, I stood over this little sink as we lived in our camper/grandparents garage while our house was being built next door.

This little sink has served us far more than I have ever given it credit for. It’s washed our hands before/after meals & messy adventures, turned into a play station for little splashing hands, cleaned teeth, eyes, & even hair at times. It has soaked stained clothing, washed paint brushes, & cleaned stacks of dirty dishes far beyond its size. It has washed muddy toys from outside play, scrubbed shoes caked in dirt, & rinsed fruits & vegetables before they nourished us.

It gave us clean & safe water every single day. Hot or cold, at the turn of a handle!

It’s true, I was often frustrated with its size as i struggled cleaning pans & mixing bowls under its small faucet. But day after day, this small sink served our family, meeting our needs & cleaning our messes despite its frustratingly small size.

As I joyfully work in my bigger sink at our new house, I reflect on my tiny sink days over at our grandparents garage. I admire how faithfully that sink served our family.

God used that little sink to humble me & to teach me patience & gratitude. If I always had a big kitchen sink, I wouldn’t treasure things the way I do now. The years of “inconvenience” have been years of refining.

I am thankful for those little sink years. Thankful for the lessons it taught me. Thankful that even in lack, God provides more than enough.

For when we only focus on what we don’t have, we miss the miracle of what we do.

Let that *sink* in 💛

A year of patience, growth, & transformation.
We got our certificate of occupancy exactly one week before Christmas. We worked hard & prayed harder to get in by Christmas😅 It isn’t perfectly decorated or completely finished, but it is home💛 All cuddled up on our mattress on the floor reminded me of every transitional point in my life. I am grateful for all the “mattress on the floor” transitions in life, as stressful & chaotic as they are. They bring growth, humility & genuine gratitude for the little things. I look forward to this new year & all the work that is ahead of me in making this house a home. My to-do list is a million miles long but today I chose to rise with the sun & slow down to write & reflect. I went through my camera roll & revisited captured moments & memories of the journey of our “Gingerman House” & admired the growth of my sweet Jefferson & Adlee alongside it. 🥹
