Do My thoughts ever stop?
Will they? For you?
Maybe sunday morning on the pew?
Maybe not.
Even at “church” My thoughts stay tuned-in to Me, Myself & I.
My to-do’s.
My dreams.
My desires.
My goals.
Just as soon as I tune you in,
I get bored & turn the dial to the next station.
Even though your station is crystal clear,
I prefer the staticky stations playing My favorite songs.
your station is just not what I want right now.
It just isn’t as entertaining.
Not as upbeat.
Not as “popular”.
Not as “fun”.
I want to hear what else is out there.
But I know your station will always come through!
So, I’ll just tune in later when I feel like it.
But for now,
This is what I want.
After all, this is My life.
I typed this “poem” (I don’t know how to write “poems” according to the worlds standards) that was on my heart as I was humbled by the holy spirit that my thoughts are always focused on myself & not on Him.
I capitalized the “I”, “my”, etc. & lowercased the words that were referring to Him, as a way to emphasize the importance of myself over Him in my daily thoughts/life.
Even when I go to church on Sunday which appears to be “set aside” time to commune with Him & fellowship, where is my heart & thoughts? You would think they would be on Him. But most times they aren’t.
Surely, I am not the only one.
I pray that we can acknowledge & own up to our selfishness & humble ourselves.
I pray that we can start directing our selfish thoughts toward Him in worship more often than just on Sunday morning at the church building.
I pray that we aren’t just tuning-in when its “convenient” for us. But that we tune-in from a genuine desire to be nearer to Him & to know Him.
Inviting him into every moment of every day. Right in the midst of the ordinary stuff that consumes our thoughts: groceries, laundry, kids, meals, errands, work, etc.
Lord, keep our thoughts focused on you even when the task at hand isn’t necessarily about you. I want to see you in each and every task. Show up everywhere. Don’t leave my thoughts. This must be the most important thing, for me to find You in my every thought, my every moment, today & every day!
AMEN!
Afterall, we are the Church.
& it’s time we start thinking like it.
