Lonely Old Fridge Art

We currently live in a camper parked next to my husband’s grandparents’ new garage. We spend a lot of time in the garage since it is spacious and has heating & air. The kids have a tent set up on a large area rug (also known as the “playroom”) & they love running around in the wide-open area. The garage is also where we bathe, do laundry, & prepare/eat meals. We really only sleep in the camper.

I say all this to give a background into how I came to find a calendar page that has really inspired me & has helped to keep my spirit lifted during such a major life transition. The refrigerator we use in the garage has been around for as long as my husband can remember. On the fridge there is a lonely calendar page that’s titled “Praying for Our Children” written by Bob Hostetler. It is the only thing on the front of the fridge. I’ve never asked about it, but I continue to read it every day as I open the fridge countless times to grab the milk carton to fill a sippy cup, fresh fruit to cut for snacks, to get out ingredients for a meal, or the many mindless searches for something to satisfy a craving.

I open the fridge countless times throughout our days most often in service to my family (which I love doing) But I wouldn’t be telling the full truth if I didn’t fess up to the many times that I open the fridge with less than a servant’s heart. Sometimes I come to the fridge frustrated at the toddler who has tugged on my pant leg for one minute straight screaming “JUICE MOM” while I’m in the middle of something. Most times I come to the fridge saddened to be without a fully functional kitchen & there are too many times that I open the fridge and am hit with the reminder of my poor grocery & meal planning.

It’s true that from the inner fridge view of me opening the door 50+ times a day, you would rarely see any enthusiasm or smile on my face.

But the lonely worn calendar page on the front quickly gives me a heart & mind check.

So, I wanted to share it with you in hopes that it will do the same for you.

I reached out to the writer of the calendar to ask if I could share the calendar on my blog, but he kindly asked that I instead share his information & link to where you can access it to which I happily obliged.

Bob Hostetler Official Website

Since the publishing of the calendar those many years ago, there is now an app! If you download it, let me know how you like it!

Click HERE to view the app “31 Ways To Pray For Your Kids”

If you want something tangible, you can purchase these Prayer cards listed on his website HERE

I hope this helps guide you in praying for your children. Sometimes I don’t know how to pray for the children God has entrusted me to raise for Him & this is such a great place to start.

With much love,
