Our ice cream lovin’ Adlee Russell turned 3🎉🥰
For those of you who don’t know, my Dad & his best friend opened an Ice Cream Shop when I was in highschool called “Fat Dads Ice Cream”. That shirt I’m wearing in these pictures was my dad’s 3XL t-shirt from those days. I dug it out of storage & served ice cream in it at Adlee’s party.🥹 As I served, I thought about my Dad & all he taught me throughout those last years of his life. He taught me to go big for my kids, he taught me to love everyone around me more than I love myself, & he taught me about ice cream😂 (among many many other things).
We celebrated this past weekend with friends & family on a beautiful sunny (& windy) day!
The wind tried to take her balloons & ice cream stand a few times but we put up a good fight.
I’m so thankful for friends & family who are willing to put up with my crazy ideas! & I am so very thankful for this sweet girl whom God has entrusted me to raise up for Him. I pray that she continues to come to know & believe in Jesus! For that is all that truly matters in this crazy fallen world after all. 💛

Reviving the Past: A Furniture Transformation Journey✨
There’s something truly wondrous about the art of flipping furniture. It’s not just about reclaiming a piece; it’s about breathing new life into a relic, celebrating the work of the hands that touched these pieces before us.

Let me take you on a journey that began with this Thomasville piece. Once newly built right here in North Carolina, I came upon it in a dusty corner of a habitat store, its potential was evident to me the moment I saw it.. As I approached it, I could see beyond the worn-out, dusty surface.
With a gentle hand, I wiped away dust & dirt. Each wipe was a step towards rediscovery, an act of love for what once was.

The real transformation began with a splash of creativity. I chose a beautiful bold blue color. It was a perfect pairing for the delicate floral wallpaper that would grace its back. Laying down countless brush strokes filled my heart with joy; each stroke was like an embrace, welcoming the piece back into the light.

Once the paint dried, I sanded, waxed, & installed wallpaper. As I stepped back, I saw not just a piece of furniture, but a symbol of renewal, ready for its next chapter.
This lovely piece, once forgotten, is now primed to become the centerpiece of someone’s home, ready to show off family heirlooms, hold cherished books, and witness countless conversations.
It’s a representation of resilience—a reminder that beauty often lies in what we are willing to work for and nurture.

So here’s to embracing the charm of the past while stepping boldly into the future. May we always find joy in the little things, & may our homes be filled with pieces that tell stories & bring warmth & comfort to all.

With each flip, we don’t just transform furniture; we save pieces of history & cultivate the creativity that came before us. It continues to teach & inspire us & we hope it will do the same for you & your home 🥰💛@southernacornmarket

Slow peaceful snow moments 💛

Cold pink cheeks, little snow tracks, snow angels,

Cold pink cheeks, little snow tracks, snow angels, & snow “monsters” (snowmen), their little imaginations as they pretend they are sinking in a snow swamp, snow flakes on little eyelashes, tiny snow mustaches from eating mitten fulls of snow, the swishing sound their little snow suit makes as the trudge through the snow, little mitten hands shaking snow off branches & occasionally loosing their mittens & needing moms immediate assistance to secure them back in place.
I don’t want to overlook or take for granted these rare moments in the snow at this sweet age. 🥹
Because maybe next winter they wont need mom’s mitten help…💛

God, bless my efforts. Guide me in gathering goods for the shop, that we may bring together things that belong in the homes of whom you lead here. I pray that every little thing that leaves this place will bring you glory! I pray that your love will be felt in every piece I paint & home-good I gather. I pray for the many homemakers who will come to this shop in search for pieces to make their home more inviting, beautiful, hospitable, & welcoming. May you bless every person & every home in the name of Jesus 💛 Amen!
