Camper Captivity

I hit the ground not running but mopping this morning, followed by being held captive by our camper.

If you don’t want to read about my chaos, please at least read the last paragraph of this post because I truly believe our chaos is actually just God being creative!

“A Beautiful Morning” by The Rascals was playing sarcastically in my head this morning as I was mopping up a flood with still half asleep foggy vision.

I had just sprung out of bed to my husband fretfully asking me to come see. I know my husband’s concerned tone like I know my favorite sitcom, (the only show I watch & rewatch…& rewatch) Full House. We stepped into a sloshy laundry/bathroom floor & I instantly knew the culprit. See, I ran my washer last night before going to bed & after investigating, we discovered my bag that was on top of the washer was shaken off during the spin cycle knocking the drain tube out of the drainpipe thingy & causing water to drain out everywhere (luckily my rugs soaked up most of it).

I returned to our camper since the kids were still sleeping & Tyler followed. We said our morning goodbyes & he locked the door from the outside with his key as he left for work. This is normally no biggie, but today we found out that it very much can be a biggie if the key is taken out a certain way when locking it.

So, there we were just enjoying a slow morning in the camper up until we attempted to leave & couldn’t get the door open. I tried my best to outsmart the camper door but to no avail. I finally had to call my husband for backup. Of course, there was always the emergency exit window that I was prepared to bust out of if needed & my mother-in-law was on stand-by to bring us food through our window lol.
But I knew when my husband would be there & so it wasn’t too traumatic.

Once rescued by my husband we learned a lesson on our camper’s sneaky locking ways! & then I decided to do something productive after bumming it in camper prison all morning. So, I loaded the kids up in my VW & we set out to pick up our mail from the post box.
But the post office is closed from 12:30 to 1:30…

I decided to try to turn the day around with a trip to Chick-fil-A for lunch. But I needed gas & didn’t want to add being stranded on the side of the road to our series of unfortunate events. While pumping gas I crossed paths with one of the kindest most genuine people I know! We exchanged prayer requests & the day was smooth sailing from there! We ate yummy food, & stopped by Granna & Pop Pops, where we rode around on the mower, got to swing on a cool new swing, found persimmons (they weren’t ripe enough to eat but still pretty enough to gather for a picture), & watered trees with water guns!

Life sure is whirly! But with each twist & turn we must remain prayerful & trust that God will put us right where He needs us. We don’t yet see the entire picture. What may seem bad in our eyes is actually always being worked together for good.
