Food Foil

This foil wrapped food was more than a meal. It was all the love & light my heart desperately needed in that moment. All because my siblings in The Spirit were selfless enough to look past their own full plates to fill ours.

We all have so much on our plates. We all carry a load of struggles. But when we pause long enough to do something for someone else, even in our busiest seasons – it humbles, blesses, & reminds us of a greater love.

When our friends showed up with food for our family after our loss, my heart said, “No, you shouldn’t be bringing us food! Everyone should be bringing food to you! You just had a baby!”

& as I stared at the foil pans they brought, lined up on the counter, each one covered in shiny foil, I noticed for the first time how beautiful foil really is.

It catches the light, it shines, it reflects.

And in that moment, it was like those glowing foil pans spotlighted truth: this is exactly what selfless love looks like. Thinking of others outside of our all-consuming busy lives.

Love doesn’t have to be elaborate or homemade. Sometimes it comes from a restaurant wrapped in foil, practical & humble.

That foil was reflecting the electric lights overhead, but more importantly it reflected the love & light of Jesus & i felt it all in that moment because of my thoughtful friends.

The love they showed us was the “light” that illuminated this truth to me. I pray that God will give me eyes to see outside of my own selfishness & use me to bless others just as my friends blessed me & my family.

& I hope by sharing this, that I may shine some light onto your own path, whoever is reading this. That you would be inspired & encouraged on your own way, journeying through this world, encountering people who so desperately need your shiny, foil wrapped food.

In love,
